Security is a concern that everybody must be aware of its details for IT in general, and the web in particular, to be a safer place. Israel: More Powerful than the UN!

These are the 70 UN Resolutions against Israel. No need to add that Israel never respected any single one of them. The UN has always been royally ignored by the State of Israel. The details of the resolutions, and all other UN Security Counsil resolutions can be found and downloaded on the United Nations website.

This also proves how useless the UN is when it comes to Israel being in question. Taking this fact into consideration, world leaders and politicians must understand that this type of behavious is exactly what makes the Middle East problem more complicated and unresolvable.

Israel must be forced to abide to the International Law. Otherwise, extreme organizations and terrorism will never stop.

From Israel to Lebanon

Because I believe in freedom of speech and opinion and because I witnessed the "blocking" of www.fromisraeltolebanon.org, I decided (without prior notice from the authors of the blocked website) to put a cached copy of the blocked website on my blog.

This page contains pictures of dead children and destroyed areas due to the Israeli bombing of Beirut during July 2006. If you are annoyed by such pictures, please DON'T proceed.

JMON v1.0 Released

JMON is a Java Monitor software for Linux/Unix servers. The software monitors applications and provides remote SSL-encrypted connections for clients. Clients can check the status of remote servers as well as start/stop services.

JMON is developed by Miguel Habre and Joe Wazen as a Senior Project for Notre Dame University (Spring 2006).

Where Is God When We Need Him?

A beautiful and nice moral story to share with friends around the globe. This was sent to me by Paul-Marc Bou Gharios asking me to share with everyone. Read it, it only takes 5 minutes of time, learn from it and share it with your online friends.

Sally jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. She said: " How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?"

The surgeon said, "I'm sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn't make it."

Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer? Doesn't God care any more? Where were you, God, when my son needed you?"


The surgeon asked, "Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes, before he's transported to the university."

Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said good-bye to son. She ran her fingers lovingly through his thick red curly hair.

"Would you like a lock of his hair?" the nurse asked. (More)

Why I Prefer PHP over .NET?

One of the major differences between .NET and PHP is the outstanding performance and reliability that PHP provides.

I am always asked by people, especially students, about the reason why I prefer PHP technology over ASP technology. In its simplest form, I can safely say that PHP is safe and secure (by default) while .NET is not. It is obvious that .NET supports easy web development and fast production. To produce a website by a beginner using PHP might take 50% more time than it would take using .NET.

An expert PHP programmer, though, can produce solutions using PHP in almost the same time required by .NET developers. PHP outstands when it comes to cusotmized solutions (especially those related to customized GUI components such as combo boxes, complicated SQL queries displayed in simple XHTML forms, etc.)

PHP also outbeats .NET when it comes to XHTML validity since the XHTML written while coding PHP is completely up to the developer while that written by .NET is written normally by tools that don't produce valid XHTML.

The Header Part

As you can notice, the header part of my blog is changed to something that includes my picture as well as some other stuff although not visible in there (Ray promised a header for my blog so expect something new very soon).

Anyway, this post is just an explanation of the header: That's me at the left and my favourite penguin at the right (the Linux logo for newbies). In the middle you will find the cedar (symbol of Lebanon, my country). In the background there are two things: the earth (although not very clear) and the Internet channels (the orange dots that you see scrambled across the earth).

I also thought of defining the term Blog in my title since I am always asked about its meaning ;) Blog stands for Web Log. Why didn't they call it Wlog and called it Blog instead? I don't know. Maybe it sounds better :)
