The web for me is a hobby where standards and best practices are daily bread. Security is a concern that everybody must be aware of its details for IT in general, and the web in particular, to be a safer place. My life, on the other hand, is that of a regular Lebanese citizen where politics and social issues are discussed on a daily basis. Today, Said El-Khoury, a dear friend and relative died from Cancer. Said was well-known for his optimism and ongoing struggle for a better life. I dedicate this small space on the web to Said and I pray that his soul rests in peace. (More)

Why Linux?

Linux happens to be my favourite Server Operating System. Why as a server? Simply because Microsoft Windows is still, by far, the best Personal Operating System for a PC. There are major advantages and disadvantages for Linux and Windows and this category is dedicated to list them and explain each and every one of them.

As a teacher at a University, I am always faced with the same question: Why do you dislike Microsoft Windows? Well, I don't dislike Microsoft Windows. I like Microsoft Windows for the personal PC's, I dislike Microsoft Windows for servers. On the other hand, I like Linux for Servers and I tend to like Linux for PC's as well but I still use Microsoft Windows up to this moment on my PC.

El-Hariri's Assasination

11 days ago, the Ex-Prime Minister of Lebanon, Mr. Rafic Hariri died in a car explosion in the center of Beirut (the city that he rebuilt after 20 years of Lebanese war). This is just a salut to Mr. Hariri with respect for being another Martyr (although a major one) for Lebanon.

Today, I decided to take 30 minutes out of my busy days to setup what I think will be a major contribution factor to my life.
This blog, as I see it, is not meant simply to be a place to talk and type. It will be my daily runaway from daily life boring issues to do something that I consider great: sharing knowledge with the world.
